Linguistic tools
I use many specialist dictionaries as well as other more personalised tools such as glossaries and lexicons, not forgetting the inexhaustible documentary resources available on the Internet.
My work involves cross-referencing and checking all the information found in monolingual and bilingual documents to confirm that I have chosen the correct expression.
I am always happy to invest in quality documentation, and appreciate the advice provided by clients in a subject area.
Translation support tools (CAT)
CAT, computer-assisted translation, allows us to keep a record of all translations already carried out for a client, to ensure that terminology remains consistent across documents. It is not automatic translation software, but a translation memory which can be re-used. The software I use is Trados 2007.
